Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) successfully co-hosted the 2023 Trukai Fun Run event in three of its operational sites including Tabubil, Kiunga and Bige on Sunday, August 20th with a participation rate of about 1000 people comprising employees, business partners, school student and members of the community.
In line with OTML’s social sustainability vision and consistent with it being a PNG owned company, it is fitting to partner with Trukai Industries Limited and the PNG Olympics Committee to support our sports men and women participating in international events.
Speaking at the opening of the Fun Run on Sunday, General Manager, Social Performance & Sustainability, Jesse Pile said, “While we want to remain healthy and active by ensuring we participate in such physical activities, we also want to support our communities and the people of Papua New Guinea in worthy initiatives like this and we are proud to have successfully hosted the Trukai Fun Run in three of our respective operational sites.”
“This is OTML and its communities’ contribution to support the athletes of PNG,” Mr Pile said.
OTML has in the past co-hosted the Trukai Fun Run a number of times throughout its operational sites and is proud to be a co-host this year.
OTML is a proud 100 percent PNG owned mine and is happy to support popular event such as Truck Fun Run to positively impact livelihoods of the people of PNG.
The Secretary General for the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) acknowledged the Trukai Fun Run 2023 host partners such as OTML for their tremendous support towards the biggest fundraising event for Team PNG. In November later this year, Team PNG will participate in the Pacific Games 2023 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
She went on to add “It is through such partnerships with OTML that this event has been a huge success in 2023 and enjoyed in more centers throughout Papua New Guinea. The support goes a long way to ensuring that we continue to send our Team PNG athletes to compete overseas at international sporting events”.
Mrs. Rapilla, on behalf of PNGOC, expressed her gratitude towards Trukai Industries Limited for backing the iconic event over the last 23 years as the naming rights sponsor and also thanked the many event partners, host partners, support sponsors, stakeholders and retail partners for delivering a very successful 2023 fun run event.
