Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) today (3rd May) donated general office equipment and supplies to the Surgery Department of the University of PNG School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS).
Totalling over K70,000, the items donated consisted of computers, printers, tablets and other accessories including Microsoft Office software programs and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems.
OTML General Manager Corporate Affairs Harold Duigu who presented the items said it is hoped that the new office equipment will assist the department go a long way with its teaching, learning and research programs.
“Acknowledging the work you do for our nation, it is our pleasure to support the Surgery Department, Port Moresby General Hospital and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences with the donation of these items,” Mr Duigu said.
Dr Arnold Waine, Senior Lecturer Surgery with the SMHS thanked OTML for the kind donation saying the department has been using old office equipment for a long time and the donation will greatly assist them.
“Thank you Ok Tedi for this kind gesture. Although its small, it will have a great impact on the training that we are providing to students and surgeons,” Dr. Waine said.
Every year, OTML supports its communities with medevacs, medical referrals and repatriation, education assistance, transport and logistics, and sponsorships.
