The Kiunga Catfish Rugby League team aims to make waves in the upcoming Agmark Sepik 9’s Rugby League Tournament, thanks to a generous K5000 sponsorship from Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML).
OTML presented a cheque to the executives of the Kiunga Catfish in Tabubil, injecting much-needed financial support to aid the team’s journey to the Agmark Sepik 9’s in Wewak, East Sepik Province.
Present to receive the cheque were Technical Officer, Senior Dumo, Medical Officer, Roland Kevin, and Trainer & Captain, Lynton Tube.
The Kiunga Catfish Rugby League team consists of players hailing from the five districts of Western Province. And the Agmark Sepik 9’s presents a unique opportunity for the team to showcase their potential.
Senior Dumo expressed the team’s goals, stating, “The aim is to represent the province, expose our players to a higher level of competition, and hopefully they catch the eye of selectors for any of the Digicel Cup franchises.”
This financial injection from OTML is not the only support the Kiunga Catfish has received. Other organizations have rallied behind the team, providing additional funding for their participation and contributing to the purchase of their uniforms.
20 teams are geared up for an intense battle at the Agmark Sepik 9’s Rugby League Tournament, scheduled between 24th and 25th of November.
The Kiunga Catfish aims to make a significant impact on the tournament, representing not only their province but also showcasing their talents.
